IPSWICH ART WORKSHOP RESIDENCY 2024
I was selected for a month-long residency in the brand-new Ipswich Art Workshop (former Jamie Oliver Ministry of Food), located in d'Arcy Doyle Place, Ipswich. This great initiative of Ipswich City Council to support artists in situated in the Ipswich CBD, right in-between the Ipswich Art Gallery and the Ipswich Community Gallery, making it a great place to work and be inspired.
During my time here I was able to fully utilise the various spaces available, using the main space to work on larger cyanotype collage experimentations and the photography studio to shoot some still life work for my upcoming video installation at the Condensery, Somerset Regional Gallery.
To engage the community, I hosted an Intermediate Cyanotype Photogram workshop where we explored bleaching, toning, digital negatives and UV lamps. I also held an Open Studio Day for the general public to come and meet me and check out what I'd been up to and was thrilled that a local collector visited and purchased one of my works.
It's always exciting and inspiring to have the opportunity to work in a different space and to discover new ideas and ways of working.
