FRAGMENTS: WHAT PEOPLE LEAVE BEHIND
This series explores human
behaviour through documenting the physical evidence left behind in public
spaces. The images function as documents of human occupation, conveying a sense
of excess and rejection in a disposable society. They also operate to signify
and question emotional experiences and attachments to objects and environments.
By using the strategies of disrupting and distorting the print surface, to deconstruct the fine print aesthetic and to evoke a sense of the discarded, and then rephotographing, I transform not only the photographic object but our perception of reality. Through the act of vandalising the photographic objects, the photograph as object takes on new meanings.
