Something blue
Video installation: single channel split screen video with Satin Bowerbird soundscape

Something blue draws parallels between the mating rituals of the Satin Bowerbird, and humans, who have adapted to online dating and use images of themselves on dating sites or social media to meet people and attract a mate.

What if, like the bowerbird, we use our possessions to attract a mate, instead of our face. Using images on dating apps of only our belongings, food, technology, everyday items, souvenirs we’ve collected, or sentimental items. What do our belongings say about us? What object would you choose if you could only use one to represent you?

25 images of objects suggested anonymously by the public, via my one question survey, were used in the video installation to create fictional conversations with 25 objects I've chosen.
