I have two new photo-based artworks in a group exhibition at the Ipswich Community Gallery, curated by the Ipswich Art Gallery.
Something borrowed #1: Margaret Olley and Annamaria Mays Vermeer is the first in my Something borrowed still life series that combines objects from two different people. This series explores the relation between objects, landscape and memory. As memory can be contained in objects I use the photographic object together with still life arrangements to evoke common or shared memories in the viewer - of people, place or experience. This work brings together an element from the natural landscape and the objects of two artists from different demographics whose work is embedded in the domestic landscape - Margaret Olley and Annamaria Mays Vermeer. The work Annamaria Mays Vermeer is the first in a series of contemporary portraits that I intend to continue creating over the next year. The exhibition includes 17 other artists from the Ipswich and is open until 22 January, 2016.
