My Outlander series will open at the Brunswick Street Gallery in Fitzroy this Friday night, 15 April from 6pm.
The exhibition continues on to 28 April - as advertised in the April edition of the Art Almanac. Last day of the People Place exhibition is this Saturday, 23 January, 2016. Everyone is welcome to come along and meet the artists for a celebration on Friday 22 January from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.
I have two new photo-based artworks in a group exhibition at the Ipswich Community Gallery, curated by the Ipswich Art Gallery.
Something borrowed #1: Margaret Olley and Annamaria Mays Vermeer is the first in my Something borrowed still life series that combines objects from two different people. This series explores the relation between objects, landscape and memory. As memory can be contained in objects I use the photographic object together with still life arrangements to evoke common or shared memories in the viewer - of people, place or experience. This work brings together an element from the natural landscape and the objects of two artists from different demographics whose work is embedded in the domestic landscape - Margaret Olley and Annamaria Mays Vermeer. The work Annamaria Mays Vermeer is the first in a series of contemporary portraits that I intend to continue creating over the next year. The exhibition includes 17 other artists from the Ipswich and is open until 22 January, 2016. My artwork, Still Life with Milk Jug, has been selected for the Flying Arts Qld Regional Art Awards Touring Exhibition for 2016. Congratulations to all the winners and the 33 artists selected for the exhibition including 4 of my Ippy pals - Sharon McKenzie, Donna Davis, Karen Stephens and Alan Tulloch.

Looking forward to completing a body of photographic work, Outlander, that I initiated in 2012. After focusing on other arts projects over the last few years I now am able to resolve this work and am pleased to have the opportunity to present it at the Ipswich Art Gallery. I'm thrilled to be accepted to conduct an artist residency at The Nancy Fairfax Artist in Residence Studio in the Tweed Regional Art Gallery in Murwillumbah, NSW. I'll be heading down to NSW later in the year to create works in this gorgeous location and conduct research at the Margaret Olley Art Centre.
I recently finished a public art commission for the new Mater Private Hospital at Springfield. I'm thrilled to be part of the Mater's art collection and hope that my artworks will assist in the recovery and well-being of the patients.
Thank you to IAM Projects for offering me this opportunity and supporting me through the process.
